In 2009, AAROM started work  with the communities of Indian Island and Eel River Bar in a shore line adaption project aimed at protecting the communities from flooding and erosion due to the impending sea level rise and storm surges. The intention was to erect a large rock wall to deter the natural forces eating away at the shores. The rock wall project was undertaken in partnership with Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada's Emergency Fund and costed $1.1 million in Indian Island alone. The project was completed in the summer of 2011 and AAROM remains proud of the peace of mind we brought to two beautiful costal communities.
